Projects and Initiatives

The Office of Economic and Workforce Development is participating in, sponsoring, or associated with the following projects and initiatives, among others:

Critical Infrastructure Summit
Aging critical infrastructures, mandated water and sewer upgrades or rebuilds, increases in the cost of electricity, natural gas, and fuel oil, and ensuring access to advanced telecommunications infrastructures are challenging the abilities of state, regional, and community leaders to ensure their communities' economic, environmental, and social sustainability. The overarching objective of this forum is to identify ways the University can work with government and the private sector to help the Commonwealth respond to infrastructure issues.

PA Prosperity Partnerships (PaPP)
PA Prosperity Partnerships is a strategic planning initiative established to identify university resources that can be leveraged by Pennsylvania regions to strengthen their economic base and build capacity to innovate. Just a few of these resources are:

  • talented people
  • research and development capability
  • advanced learning
  • technology and applied sciences
  • innovation and expertise
  • new ideas and connections to global networks
  • entrepreneurship

Transformative Regional Engagement (TRE)
TRE brings together university, education, government, and private partners in coordinated efforts to transform the prosperity of a region (i.e., mega-community) through education, economic, workforce, and community development.
